BEML Q4 PAT rises 18% YoY to Rs 158 cr

Revenue from operations declined 17.6% to Rs 1,387.94 crore in the quarter ended 31 March 2023.

Profit before tax in Q4 FY23 was at Rs 278.04 crore, registering a growth of 35.2% from Rs 205.65 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter previous year.

Total expenses dropped 23.69% to Rs 1129.10 crore during the quarter. Cost of raw material consumed was at Rs 651.72 crore (down 24.76% YoY) while employee benefit expenses stood at Rs 202.06 crore (down 4.22% YoY).

On the margins front, the company's operating margin improved to 19.53% in Q4 FY23 from 12.73% reported in Q4 FY22. Net profit margin increased to at 11.40% in Q4 FY23 as against 11.40% registered in Q4 FY22.

On full year basis, the company's net profit rose 18% to Rs 158.78 crore despite of 10.1% decline in revenue to Rs 3,898.95 crore in FY23 over FY22.

The company's order book as on 31 March 2023 stood at Rs 8,570 crore. The defense company said it executed orders worth Rs 1,345 crore in the quarter ended 31 March 2023.

BEML is a multi-technology schedule 'A' company under the Ministry of Defence. It operates under three major business verticals viz., defence & aerospace, mining & construction, and rail & metro. As on 31 March 2023, the Government of India held 54.03% stake in BEML.

Shares of BEML gained 0.94% to settle at Rs 1,423.95 on Friday, 26 May 2023.
